Mountaineer Academy
Ephrata Area School District teachers now have an additional way to learn and implement progressive teaching strategies to continue to help students reach their full potential and achieve success.
Mountaineer Academy, is a growing library of online teaching resources, which align specifically to the goals of the Ephrata Area School District. New content will be added on a regular basis to provide fresh teaching tools and promote a mindset of growth and continuous learning.
District administrators and technology staff worked together over several months to select, evaluate, and organize the online content to create Mountaineer Academy. “We are excited to be able to offer this virtual environment to our teachers as a way to both recognize the many teachers who already model continuous improvement and to inspire others to learn about topics that are priorities to the District and beneficial to students,” said Dr. Brian Troop, District Superintendent.
Mountaineer Academy learning modules are comprised of a vetted collection of online content, scholarly articles, best practice videos, and in-house resources all aimed at allowing teachers to access personalized professional development from anywhere at any time. “Additionally, Mountaineer Academy makes use of our existing technology and provides participants with the ability to experience learning in a virtual environment,” continued Dr. Troop.
Teachers who participate earn badges or "E-Coins" that can be redeemed for Mountaineer spirit wear, exclusive to Mountaineer Academy participants.
