"Relationships are important, and they require ongoing communication. One way we have chosen to communicate with parents and the community is through the use of Twitter. To engage in the practice of spotlighting the great things happening in the District, follow us at @GoMounts, and help share our story throughout the school year," said Dr. Brian Troop, District Superintendent.
The District continues to grow their use of social media through Twitter to share daily news, student achievements, and much more.
In addition to the official District account @GoMounts, both the high school and intermediate/middle school have a Twitter presence -- @GoEHSMounts and @GoEIMSMounts. Teachers have been encouraged to set up individual Twitter accounts and share good news from their classroom as well.
A group of Ephrata High School students use a District-monitored Twitter account, @GoMountsStudent, to Tweet about the details of their day. This use of social media allows more students, parents, and the community to join the conversation and learn about what it is like to be a student at Ephrata High School.
The District has also found success with linking Twitter hashtags to two District-wide goals. #BecomingEASD directly relates to the theme of growth mindset. #MountsPride is used when sharing things that align with the "traits of a Mountaineer."
Twitter in Ten Challenge
The District hopes to create an even larger Twitter impact through the Twitter in Ten Challenge, a video series that will take educators step-by-step through the sign up, set up, and use of Twitter as an education and professional development tool.
Registered Twitter in Ten teachers will receive a different five-minute video link every three days for a total of ten videos throughout October 2016 that can be watched and put into practice as needed. Watch the videos HERE.
